GERMAN NOUNS: always learn every noun's meaning, its gender and its plural

German noun plurals all take die for their article and are formed by following these patterns:

1. No ending (stem vowel may take an Umlaut in some cases):

das Fenster-, die Fenster
der Garten- , die Gärten

2. Add -e (stem vowel may take an Umlaut in some cases):

der Tisch -e, die Tische
der Stuhl - e, die Stühle

3. Add -er (stem vowel may take an Umlaut in some cases):

das Kind-er, die Kinder
das Buch- er, die Bücher

4. Add -en , -n , or -nen (stem vowel does not change):

die Frau-en, die Frauen
die Studentin-nen, die Studentinnen
der Junge-n, die Jungen

5. Add -s (stem vowel does not change):

das Auto-s, die Autos
das Radio-s, die Radios
